Project Overview
A multi-parcel lot clearing and grading program across Ontario in 2020: tree and vegetation removal, topsoil stripped and stockpiled for reuse, finished grades established to the engineered design, and erosion and sediment controls installed from the first day to the last.
Grading is where a site's drainage is decided for the life of everything built on it. Terrahills ran the grading phase on GPS-guided equipment, which hits engineered elevations precisely on the first pass and removes the survey-and-recut cycle that adds cost and time to conventional grading.
Environmental compliance ran alongside the earthworks rather than after: silt fence and sediment controls, stabilized construction entrances, protection of adjacent land and watercourses, and a documented compliance record, so the parcels were handed over ready for construction with no drainage problems and nothing for a conservation authority to find.
The program was scheduled around Ontario's weather: clearing and stripping in the windows the season allowed, grading sequenced to keep crews productive through wet periods, and topsoil placement timed for stabilization.
